Nintendo has recently released a couple of videos, uploaded to YouTube by SiliconEra, to further whet our appetites for Skyward Sword.

The first video showcases the combat system. A lot of it is stuff we’ve seen before (Z-targeting, finishing moves, finding enemy armor weaknesses), but two new features are introduced. The first is the scarab/beetle we saw in an earlier video. You can pilot the little bug with your Wii remote to look for hidden loot in difficult to reach passages, or cut ropes which drop boxes full of goodies.
The second is a new puzzle, which requires that you rotate an object to insert into a key-hole to open a door. I imagine that at some point, the game will require you to find the various parts of a key in order to progress.
The second video fleshes out the dousing mechanism of the game. Your sword has the ability to guide you to hidden objects. The video itself shows Link trying to find a little Kiwi which has disguised itself as a bush. The icons which come up as Link chooses what he would like to look for include the Kiwi, Zelda, an eye, and a circle of runes.
Needless to say, the videos further display the beautiful graphics, fun and iconic soundtrack, and mechanics we’ve grown to love. My poor wallet is bracing itself.
