Disney has filed a trademark for the Castle of Illusion, specifically for use with video games. You might remember Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse as the Genesis’s best side-scrolling platformer this side of Sonic the Hedgehog and Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker.
The trademark opens up some exciting questions about the future of the Disney gaming. Is the company they planning on re-releasing this masterpiece for portable systems, or perhaps the Virtual Console? Will Disney be reusing the titular locale for an entirely new title, or maybe in the upcoming Epic Mickey 2? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure: I am roughly as excited for this, as I was when I heard Square and Disney were teaming up for an action-RPG.
