What do you see in your mind when you think of Flash games? Is it your old days on Newgrounds playing point and click sniper simulators and erotic adventure games? Or, perhaps Facebook games? Well that may change today, as Epic has revealed that Unreal Engine 3 is coming to the Adobe Flash platform.
This isn’t some special 2D-adventure game-creator version, either. Epic showed a tech demo in the form of a tour of a map from Unreal Tournament 3, and it managed to look good, if not better than, it does on consoles. Keep in mind, this is all running in Flash, inside a browser.
While it’s not available for developers quite yet, I’m certainly looking forward to seeing what will be created with this. Perhaps it could help Facebook become a viable platform for quality free-to-play games. However, I do feel like hardware will certainly be an issue, as this isn’t OnLive technology, and it doesn’t seem like it will be running on your netbook any time soon.
