You may recall the contest being held for Assassin’s Creed: Revelations that set out to find a vocalist for the main theme. The winner, Madeline, has been chosen by composers Lorne Balfe, Hans Zimmer, and Simon Landry, and will soon be recording the official version for the game.
The contest was set up similarly to American Idol or X-Factor, allowing contestants to upload their own recording, listeners to vote on their favorite song, and a panel of judges to pick the ultimate winner.
The judges set out to find a “soft melodic voice” that would capture the mysterious vibes set by the game. Previous Assassin’s Creed games have had airy vocals, with long and dissonant melodies, and the composition by Balfe is no different. To hear it for yourself with the winner’s voice, check it out here.
Madeline will receive $1000 along with a chance to record the official version in a recording studio. She’ll also get to see her name in the credits and, oh yeah, be heard by millions of gamers.
Judges commented that Madeline’s voice is the “perfect fit,” but you’ll have to wait to hear the official version later in the year. Even if the song is not released earlier, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations will come out on November 15th, and we’ll be able to hear it in its full glory then.
