Final Fantasy Versus XIII Officially Goes into Full Production
As of yesterday, Final Fantasy Versus XIII pulled itself out of the hellish limbo of vaporware, into the realm of full production. In a recent meeting between fans and producers of the Final Fantasy series, Yoshinori Kitase officially confirmed this movement declaring, “for Type-0 and Versus XIII we are giving 100% to development.”
He tangentially apologized for the absurdly long production time by explaining that the development team made full use of their recent experience with Final Fantasy XIII in the production of its sequel. This enabled them to release XIII-2 early, but constrained them to working on just that one project.
Versus XIII, a game announced concurrently with Final Fantasy XIII, will feature Kingdom Hearts-esque action gameplay and a gritty, metropolitan take on XIII’s fantastical setting.
Despite this production announcement, Versus still claims no official release date.
I’ll believe it when I see it.
This Final Fantasy must be good, it needs to revive the series.
