In the place of swarms of horrifying blue slimes or cruelcumbers, Square Enix decided it would probably be a little better to simply announce the next addition in the Dragon Quest franchise. However, they aren’t content to announce it by releasing some website or press release, instead opting to stream the announcement over Ustream on their very own channel. You can catch the announcement tonight at 9 P.M (EST).
In other Dragon Quest news, there’s no real way to tell what this new Dragon Quest is besides making the assumption that it’s probably Dragon Quest X. However, if you’re hyped for some Dragon Quest after the announcement, you might want to dust off that Wii and pick up a copy of the Dragon Quest Anniversary Collection. Scheduled for release in Japan on September 15th, it’ll encompass the series from first to third and serves the purpose of celebrating the 25thanniversary of the franchise.
As far as any reasoning behind not releasing this collection on Virtual Console, the world may never know.

September 15th in Japan, right? Or did the Anniversary Collection get localized?
