Back in April Joystiq reported that Tales of the Abyss would be released in North America this Fall on the 3DS. As of today, Talesunion.com is reporting now, however, that it is being delayed until Q1 2012 in North America. Europe will still be getting the game this November.
When the game was originally released on the PS2 back in 2006, it quickly became a hit and was one of my favorite JRPGs on the system, and not just because I share a first name with the main protagonist. The game focuses on the plight of Luke fon Fabre, a young noble who, in classic JRPG fashion, is swept up into a grand adventure in which he must save the world. It’s a cliché plot, but the Tales games have always been more character focused and less plot focused.
Looking around, it doesn’t seem like there will be any new content created specifically for this port. However, the Tales of games have always been known to be bursting to the seams with content and this game will be no different. Based one some of the screenshots that have surfaced, it seems that the game will also utilize the touch screen for special attacks.
