Back when this generation of consoles began, there was a big push to popularize the idea of episodic gaming. The purpose, of course, was to create smaller chunks of gameplay that took less time to develop than a big budget retail game. Sega, then, seems to have missed the point, as according to a recent interview with Eurogamer, they are now prepping Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 for release in 2012…nearly 2 years after the release of Episode 1.
Many assumed Sega would simply kill off Sonic 4 and not produce any more episodes for it. Of course, even though Episode 1 was not exactly the most well received entry in the Sonic franchise, money talks, and Sonic 4: Episode 1 still managed to bring in a pretty penny for Sega. Still, with the vastly superior Sonic Generations right around the corner, one has to wonder what the point of releasing another Sonic 4 episode is when it’s so far removed from the first.

How can they possibly change this around to make it worth playing? Guess they don’t want to waste the assets they used making the game design, but COMMON man!!
Hopefully they’ll improve the controls? I would’ve bought the last one in a heartbeat if the controls weren’t so wonky.
Wow I don’t foresee this turning out to be anything special. Why would they do this with Generations on the horizon?
nope.
