The head of Valve Software, Gabe Newell, has said in a recent interview with PCGames.de that he hopes for Counter Strike: Global Offensive to be playable across multiple platforms.
Valve recently opened the door to cross platform play with their integration of Steamworks to the PSN which allowed PC owners of Portal 2 to play alongside fellow gamers on the PS3. While this statement from Gabe certainly brings hope to supporters of cross platform gaming, it is by no means a certainty that it will occur.
In the interview Gabe commented that cross platform play would be their “Goal”, adding:
“Sometimes there are contractual, or other issues that make that hard, where somebody, a platform holder doesn’t want you to do that for whatever reason, but that’s always out preference.”
Fingers crossed then for those on PS3 wanting to play against PC players and vice-versa. More information on Counter Strike: Global Offensive should be available in the coming months.

This would be a glorious day for PC gamers. This would be a gloryholing day for gamepadders.
This would be crazy. The game would be fun and accessible. However, the competition with PC gamers might tower of PS3 gamers. A mouse vs. a controller for CS?! hmmm…we shall see.
