Just in time for Gamescom, Capcom has released a new trailer for their upcoming crossover brawler, Street Fighter X Tekken, that highlights many of the game’s new combat mechanics.
The game will feature 2 on 2 battles similar to Tekken Tag, and many of the new systems introduced focus on bringing your partner into the mix. Partners can be switched out at any time, but if a player is willing to spend a portion of their Cross Gauge, they can execute a Switch Cancel and use their partner to extend a combo. The game also features launcher-type moves that can be added to the end of combos in order to bring your partner out as well.
Of course, the pain really begins when the Cross Gauge fills completely. Burning the whole meter allows the player to initiate a Cross Art, which is essentially a flashy super combo utilizing one partner after the other. With a Cross Assault, however, both partners take to the arena to simultaneous lay their beat down.
The trailer also unveiled four additional characters. Street Fighter III got some love with the addition of Hugo and Ibuki, while the Tekken side gets padded out with Raven and Kuma the bear.
