Are you ready to go live on three? Valve has just announced Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the next title in the Counter-Strike series. According to a press release from Valve’s offices, Global Offensive will bring all new gameplay modes to the table, as well as matchmaking, leader boards, new characters and weapons, and a few other yet to be announced features.
In addition, the new title will include revamped versions of the classic game modes and maps. Doug Lombardi, VP of marketing at Valve, was quick to mention the Counter-Strike legacy in the press release:
“For the past 12 years, [Counter-Strike] has continued to be one of the most-played games in the world, headline competitive gaming tournaments and selling over 25 million units worldwide across the franchise. CS: GO promises to expand on CS’ award-winning gameplay and deliver it to gamers on the PC as well as the next gen consoles and the Mac.”
As a huge fan and an ex-competitive Counter-Strike: Source player, I can’t wait. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is targeted for an early 2012 release, and it will be playable at both PAX Prime and Eurogamer Expo 2011.

are you cal-o and sponsored? didnt think so. get 5.
I’d heard from reliable sources that a Valve dev dropped into a Lost Continents TF2 server and when asked on what (if anything) he was doing for the company, he said something along the lines of “CS stuff”. This was months ago, mind you, and I’d forgotten about it completely until now. Finally, I feel in-the-loop.
Time to scrim, I guess :V
