We’re only a month away from another installment into EA’s NHL series, and while the title may not boast any game changing features like its cousin Fifa 12 and it’s shiny new physics engine, the NHL franchise has had itself a long run of success and there’s no reason to think the 2012 edition will be any different. Basically, if you’re a hockey kind of guy then this is very much the game for you.
If you’re still on the fence about buying the game in what is already a crowded month for quality titles, then perhaps today’s trailer, which highlights the “Legends” mode, will sway you one way or the other. On the plus side you have the additions of Gretzky, Ray Bourque, Chris Chelios (really?) and many more legendary hockey players (again, Chelios, really?) to screw around with.
While to the negative you have the fact that today’s trailer is surprisingly overwrought and pretentious thanks to gratuitous use of slow motion and soundtrack that, I believe, comes from Batman.
Seriously, even if you don’t care about NHL12 I’d recommend watching the trailer just for its humor value.
