Namco Bandai Games, in conjunction with Cattle Call Developers, released a trailer for their new hero management simulator Brave Company on the 3DS and iOS platforms. The game showcases traditional JRPG graphics and side-scrolling combat between a four-character party and minions of the Demon King. Your job as the Brave Company CEO is to contract heroes to fight, craft items, collect gold, and build reputation and infrastructure for your agency. Heroes are available to hire in over 10 different classes, including knights, wizards, archers and priests. Not only will you have to review their resumes prior to hiring, you will also have to outfit them with the proper gear for questing. Brave Company employs some interesting maps and hundreds of quests.

I consider this game similar to Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King or Recettear, neither of which tout a full 3DS game price tag. Aside from the promises to use the 3DS’s special hardware for stereoscopic 3D battle scenes and Nintendo’s ShotPass online service, I’m wondering if this would be more appropriate as a DSiWare release.

Brave Company will be available in Japan the 27th of October. No news yet on North American or European versions.
