Grassroots Majora’s Mask 3DS Movement Picks Up Steam

After a mere five days of circulation, the petition to bring Majora’s Mask to the 3DS has garnered ove 10,000 signatures. The campaign, nicknamed “Operation Moonfall,” was born a mere seven days ago when a Nintendo Power interview with Eiji Aonuma found its way onto the Internet and fans took sincere note of one particular line uttered by the Skyward Sword producer.

Aonuma casually informed Nintendo power that, “one of the things which made [The Ocarina of Time] remake possible was that there was an outpour of emotions from people who said they would like to see this game done… I think certainly if there was a similar… clamor from fans for a remake of Majora’s Mask, it wouldn’t be an utter impossibility.” Within two days, this innocuous statement blew up into a full blown campaign to bring Majora’s Mask to the 3DS.

Unfortunately, despite this 10,000 signature milestone, this movement will likely find little response from Nintendo until they can produce numbers which the gaming giant can, quite literally, bank on. In my unprofessional opinion, Nintendo likely won’t begin to take note until the petition reaches the 100,000+ range. Don’t get me wrong, I’m very pleased to see this campaign see some short term success, unlike some other ongoing campaigns coughOperation Rainfallcough to which Nintendo has been less than receptive.

I really want Majora’s Mask 3D. Hopefully the petition will get to 100,000, it’s past 14,000 already!
