After hearing the cry of thousands of gamers who hate (yet still use!) the Commando perk in Modern Warfare 2, the folks at Infinity Ward have slashed it from the upcoming sequel, Modern Warfare 3. Creative Strategist Robert Bowling mentioned in a tweet that not only will the melee range extending perk not be making a return, but the entire melee system has been balanced. No word on what he means by “balanced”, or whether or not the fall damage immunity that came with Commando Pro will be making a return.
The Commando perk, which allowed for mind boggling feats of stabby short range teleportation, was considered by many online to be overpowered. It follows Call of Duty 4′s Juggernaut as the second perk to be removed due to fan outcry. Infinity Ward is working hard to make Modern Warfare 3 as balanced as possible, which, unfortunately, means they won’t be using my suggestion for “Daikatarmageddon”, a perk that makes all of your weapons fire marble busts of John Romero.
Modern Warfare 3 launches November 8th for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Just saying, the picture above is of a map named Crossfire in CALL OF DUTY 4. There was no commando perk in COD4, so that picture is not of someone using commando.
