It’s the weekend. Also it’s the Steam Summer Sale. That means you can go out and spend all of your money on stuff you don’t need. For example! Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is on sale for $5 – oh, and if you hate Steam for some reason, it is also on Amazon for just as cheap.
If war games aren’t your think though, there’s plenty of other stuff on sale today. Half Life Episode 2 for two bucks, Magicka for $3, Darksiders for $5 and a handful of other titles that are incredibly, incredibly cheap.
I strongly suggest picking up Bad Company 2 if you haven’t yet. For five bucks you can blow people up and fly helicopters around. It’s a blast.

That was great and very true. I haven’t purchased much this sale, mostly because I already own most of the best deals. I think of the backlog of games that I’ve never even touched (FarCry2 anyone?) and it helps keep my finger off that “buy” button.
Darksiders and Magicka are pretty awesome as well – the former is a god-of-war/zelda crossover, while the latter is you and 3 of your friends running around killing each other with crazy spells while the game’s objective is completely ignored.

I haven’t bought anything yet from the Steam Sale, I’m waiting for either Fallout 3 or New Vegas to hopefully go on sale.
