Mojang, the creators of Minecraft (because you didn’t know that), have uploaded a teaser trailer (made by Hat Films, the same talented guys who brought us the trailer for 1.6) of the much-anticipated 1.7 update, which is bringing pistons, bugfixes and… not much else. Originally, 1.7 was going to be the Adventure Update, which is slated to entirely change the way the game is played, bringing potions, a new lighting system and giant mushrooms to the game. Yes, none of those things are related, but Notch is a bit of a tease when it comes to new features.
Hit the break for the trailer.
The new update’s been stripped down to pistons-only because they’re a feature which has been eagerly anticipated for a while now—Mojang originally announced that they would integrate the mod into the game back in April. When Notch said that we’d actually have to wait a while for 1.7, the amount of butthurt in the Minecraft community was astounding to see. Because of this, Notch deliberated and eventually decided to release the Adventure Update as 1.8, so all of us [insert trope here] could get pistons early.
What are your thoughts on the update? Any incredibly awesome contraptions you’re going to rush out and create upon release? Leave a comment!

Whelp. Doing more or less anything with pistons crashes the game. So… 1.7.1. Now we wait.
yay another feature i will never take full advantage of
Still waiting for the Adventure Update – pistons are great, but I’m just not creative enough to use them properly. Oh well.
Agreed very much! The exp system and stuff sounds totally amazing!! I can’t wait to see what they come up with! =)
Can’t wait until they do implement adventure mode, the way it’s described is kind of what I imagined the game was like when I bought it over a year ago. That said I might just dust off my copy of Minecraft and give this update a test drive before 1.8
