TF2 Über Update all this week: Meet the Medic!

Team Fortress 2 is the game that four years after its release isn’t finished yet, but still a complete blast to play. Now, I know many were disappointed with the Mann Co. Store—and game itself—becoming more like an action figure collector set (okay, let’s be honest, action hero dress-up time), but Valve is coming out with at least one thing that will appeal to the entire community, the next installment of the excellent “Meet the …” shorts. Here is the scoop from the TF2 Blog:

“Welcome to Day One of the Über Update–the biggest, most ambitious update in the history of Team Fortress 2.
We’ve got a lot to announce as we get closer to the update’s release this Thursday, June 23rd. We’ve been holding one of the surprises pretty close to the vest for months now. We don’t want to ruin it, but we’ll give you four clues to get you guessing:

1.) It IS a “Meet the” short.
2.) It involves ONE of the two remaining classes.
3.) It’s NOT the Pyro.
4.) It’s the MEDIC.”

So bring on the wild speculation, but I think we will learn more about the medic this week. What is his connection to the team? Is he cheating on the Heavy Weapons Guy? Does he travel time to host a television show on comedy central?

In addition to the Medic video, expect many new items and maps to be released. The first day of details for the update has already been posted: Mobster Monday! 

Finally, if you don’t own TF2 yet (and seriously, why not?) Valve is having an unprecedented week-long free weekend. Time to give your old TF2 server a dust off and see if you can trade off all those duplicate items this week to the flood of new players.
