Anarchy Reigns, the over-the-top online brawler announced by Platinum Games earlier this year will not be making its intended Q3 2011 release date, opting for an as-yet-undetermined date in 2012 instead. No reason was given for the delay, but it’s probably safe to assume publisher Sega was looking to avoid what is shaping up to be a ridiculously crowded holiday season.
As much as I love Platinum’s previous works and am looking forward to Anarchy Reigns, this delay is for the best, even though it makes me sad. Better to give the game, a new and untested IP, a bit of breathing room so it has a chance to succeed, rather than being overshadowed by behemoths like Modern Warfare or Battlefield.
