Catherine Deluxe Edition Is as WTF as You’d Expect

For those who haven’t seen the mass of articles and news posts that we’ve published following the state of Atlus’s iconically strange title Catherine, you should probably know that we’re a little obsessed. Well, now we have more heading your way, in the form of pizza boxes, polka-dotted boxer shorts, and a sexy pillowcase.

Yes, the image you see above contains all of the objects you’ll be receiving with the “Love Is Over” deluxe edition of Catherine. As stated in the press release, you’ll be receiving:

“a pair of polka dot boxers like the ones worn by Vincent during his manic nightmares, Vincent’s “Empty Hearts” T-shirt worn by Catherine in the game, and a pillow case decorated with an alluring image of Catherine, a nod to the pillow tucked under Vincent’s arm as he frantically races to escape the terrors that pursue him”

But be sure to note that If you want to grab yourself all of this questionable swag, you’ll have to pre-order the Deluxe edition for $79.99. If you can’t be asked to drop 80 bucks on a special edition, you can still pre-order the game and get the limited supply Catherine Sound Disc & Art Book. The 36-page booklet features character artwork drawn by Shigenori Soejima, and the CD features musical themes within the game as remixed by Shoji Meguro, the famed composer from many of Atlus’s previous releases.

I honestly can’t bring myself to completely ignore how insane this deluxe edition is, and I’m pretty excited for the game. I honestly might have to succumb to my own strange desires and acquire myself a special Stray Sheep pizza box. If you’re like me, and are oddly compelled to buy this, Catherine is heading for a North American release on July 26 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
