Square Enix Trademarks Hitman: Absolution

Last month we reported on what might be the first screenshot for the next Hitman game (and with it, the implicit announcement of a new title). While there’s no full confirmation on that, we have learned that Square has filed for a trademark for “Hitman: Absolution” as video game software (among other things). Yes, that’s far from anything official, but with E3 coming up next month all signs seem to point to a big reveal of the next Hitman game from Square and IO Interactive coming soon, likely at the June expo.

The Hitman series is probably one of the most underrated game series in recent memory, and is certainly one of the most consistent series out there. While you may not love the games, they’re always good for a bit of solid stealth action, and they really have a unique feel when compared to Splinter Cell and other games in the genre. Though next Hitman likely won’t be out until next year, we might get at least get a taste soon.
