Let’s see, there’s been a new Mario & Sonic Olympics game for Wii and the DS during each of the two most recent Olympic Games, and then last week the above not-so-subtle logo was leaked, so you’d think this wouldn’t really be news. But no, it’s not officially announced until SEGA says so, which happens to be now. Today the company put out a press release announcing that Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (my god that’s a long title) will be coming to both the Wii and the 3DS, because they know you were all so worried a Mario game would end up on the PS3 or something.
The 3DS version will have “over 50 original Olympic themed events”, while the Wii version will have new events like soccer and equestrian, which is apparently just fancy horseback riding. Naturally both versions will feature multiplayer, because what’s the fun in winning a gold medal unless you can shove it in the face of those silver and bronze losers?
No word yet on a release date, but based on the previous two incarnations I’d expect it to hit the shelves a few months before the London Olympics.

The graphic designer who designed that logo deserves a punch in the face.
