New BF3 Screens Look Pretty, Show Off Technical Muscle

06

briefing

EA has just released a new batch of Battlefield 3 screenshots, showcasing both in-game action and the upgrades the Frostbite 2.0 engine has gotten to its lighting, animation and destruction capabilities.

The in-game shots appear to have quite a bit of overlap with the previously released Fault Line trailers (here, here and here), but they’re still rather easy on the eyes.

There are also some really fascinating technical insights here. The set of lighting images shows off how many unique sources come into play in the final render of a given scene, and the results are absolutely breathtaking. And given DICE’s history of phenomenal sound design, it’s not really surprising to see how complicated it looks when they’re putting it all together, but it’s nevertheless impressive.

To make things a bit easier, we’ve sorted out the images by type below. Enjoy.
