Final Fantasy V Coming to PSN

Final Fantasy V Piki

Square-Enix announced today that they plan to bring Final Fantasy V to the PSOne Classic section of the PlayStation Network. You’ll be able to experience one of the deepest job systems of its time as you help Bartz and his pet chocobo hunt for the four crystals. No release date has been announced so you might want to switch your current job class from Frantic Fanboy to Patient Paladin.

If you were lucky to experience the PS1 version of Final Fantasy V, you’ll remember that the game was injected with CG cut scenes and lethargic load times to make it feel more modern. With the absence of optical media, we can hope that the former, uh, ‘feature’ is removed.

I played thorugh FF5 on the gba advance and I love it. That version had 4 news jobs, a different translation, and I believe 1 new dungeon from the original though. Will this version have any new features?

From the sounds of things, it’ll just be the port of the PS1 version. So, no extra dungeons or classes.

I played the same version as you Remkai, and I LOVED everything about it! FFV is prolly my favorite game in the series by far. This is just gunna take the cake with the HD visuals and (hopefully) trophy support.

Color me surprised and color me EXCITED!!

I might give it a go. I haven’t played this since I had it on an emulator like 8 years ago…
