On this terrible day, we’ll see many April Fools’ jokes and pranks. I would say something about the sun shining and the birds chirping, but it’s snowing where I live, so I’ll keep being grumpy. Weather aside, it seems Minecraft developer Mojang AB is also getting in on the fun with a gag that hits a little close to home for fans of hat-centric combat.
Minecraft Steve has started a company that specializes in distributing indestructible chests throughout the world of Minecraftia! You can open them, but only at a price, so head on over to the Minecraft Store to open your very own Steve Co. Supply Crate!
But seriously guys, it’s a joke about Team Fortress 2. Get it? Sick burn! Who wants to high five?
The fun doesn’t stop there, there’s more to see in the Minecraft ‘shop’ of wondrous items and deals. You can buy a ‘Response from Support’ for $494. My Minecraft client has been crashing lately; maybe I’ll take them up on that offer–but wait! I can’t! A screaming raptor steals the items in my shopping cart and ruins my ear drums!
Apparently the terrible screeching raptor is from Mojang’s previous match-three game called BeDino Quest. Be warned, the raptor is goddamn loud.
On a somewhat serious note, there may be something to gather from this April Fool’s joke. The supply crates appear as ‘locked chests’ when you take a look at the item ID’s within the game, so we may see some sort of safer chest in the future. However, that’s just me being extremely speculative, so I could well be proven wrong.

Oh Notch, you slay me.
HARDY HAR HAR
