Though Max Payne 3 may have fallen off the radar back in 2009, Rockstar apparently hasn’t given up on everyone’s favorite drug-addled cop just yet. Always a tease, the developer has tweeted two new screenshots from the game, accompanied by the incredibly vague, “He’s coming.”
What the shots appear to confirm is that despite his long absence, Max is still minus one head of hair and plus one bitchin’ Hawaiian shirt. There’s (obviously) still no word on whether any of the other previously announced details about the title have remained intact throughout its long, silent sojourn. Provided the major strokes have stayed in place, Rockstar Vancouver’s first shot at the Remedy-born franchise will pick up 12 years after the conclusion of the last game and find Max working as a bodyguard in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Hit the jump for a second, slightly less dramatic screenshot.
There’s no indication of when Max Payne 3 will actually see the light of day, but as Take-Two’s financial reports for 2011 didn’t place the game on the year’s release schedule, it seems likely the wait is far from over. If I were a betting man, I’d say we’ll hear more from Max come E3 in June, with a tentative release window of Spring to Summer 2012, matching the pace Rockstar has set with GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption, and the forthcoming L.A. Noire.

i almost forgot about this! DNF must’ve distracted me
I really need to go back and play the original 2 games. I remember renting the first one a while back, but it always froze right at the beginning of the game…heartbreaking =(
Ah man, Max sure has aged in those screen shots. He must of stopped working out.
