Want to use motion control on your PlayStation without bright, glowing, expensive wands? Thanks to recent efforts by pioneering Kinect hacker Shantanu Goel, that may soon be a reality. Shantanu recently posted a video demonstrating his progress getting Microsoft’s motion-sensing camera box to work on the PlayStation 3, and while it’s still early days, the results are impressive.
The video shows Kinect recognizing specific hand motions as various PS controller buttons as Shantanu navigates through the menus and starts a game of Killzone 3. Check out the video for yourself after the jump.

I saw this video on IGN’s site, the XMB is really awesome! But the gameplay is pretty crappy.
I would still get it just to motion my way to netflix or something =P Wonder how long it took this guy to get all the controls down?
At least it shows that the Kinect has a greater potential than initially thought.
Ugh, I really think Netflix dropped the ball there. The Wii version uses the wiimote in such a sublime fashion, that I often would rather go without HD than fight with the PS3 controls (though a recent update tonight did make the PS3′s netflix a bit more repsonsive).
The Move was out some time before netflix was released as a proper PS3 app, why haven’t they done anything similar with it?
The recent PS3 Netflix update made it completely unusable for me. Now, every time I finish a show, the whole application freezes until I press Square, which exits me back to the main selection menu. Pain in the ass.
Motion control is just unsuited for gaming anyway
