Get out your speculation machines and set ‘em to Bethesda, as the studio’s parent company announced that they will be launching a new facility to provide customer support for a massively multiplayer game.
Wait. Did I say game? I meant games.
Rumors have been floating around for awhile now about a possible Elder Scrolls MMO, and this might’ve just confirmed that. The speculation machine truly kicks into overdrive when we start examining the fine details of the press release. In it, they specifically mention “games” – not just a singular “game.” Could this mean that Bethesda has multiple MMOs in the works?
ZeniMax Online Studios, founded in 2007 by Bethesda’s parent company ZeniMax, is the company that has been working on the supposed secret MMO project. The team is lead by Matt Firor, an ex-Mythic developer, so there certainly are a handful of MMO heavyweights on staff.
With this latest news, I wouldn’t be surprised if Bethesda announces an MMO later this year… or maybe even earlier than that. As always, hit the comments and let us know what you think.
