Facebook games are a pretty big market – and it seems more mainstream companies are looking to get into the mix. Today, Insomniac announced they would enter the Facebook game market, launching a brand new team under the name of “Insomniac Click” to develop social networking games.
Insomniac, however, claims that it isn’t all about the money. The company stated on their blog that they just don’t believe that social networking games are truly up to par. They believe that they are missing core elements that turn good games into great games, and they’d like to change that.
One of their main points is that console and PC gamers typically consider games based on social networks as mere activities, not full-on games. They are interested in adding depth into these games, making them acceptable for “core” gamers.
If you’d like to see more of their plan, check out the official Insomniac blog.
