Blizzard’s next-gen MMO, codenamed Titan, is already playable according to Paul Sams, COO of Blizzard Entertainment. In an interview conducted by Gamasutra, Paul gave his thoughts on the upcoming MMO. “We’re confident in (Titan). It’s an awesome one,” Sams said. “We’re playing it already. It’s a total ball to play.”
Our knowledge is extremely limited when it comes to Titan. We do know that it will be a new IP, completely separate from the Warcraft/Starcraft/Diablo universes. We also know that the product was mentioned briefly in a leaked internal slate as having a release date sometime in 2013, but considering the fluidity of the genre and who it is being developed by, that date means virtually nothing.
Rumors and speculation label the game as a possible MMOFPS, but until Blizzard drops the hammer, we’re in the dark. As we edge closer to that speculative 2013 date, though, our best source of information is probably Blizzcon – either this year’s or next.
One thing we can be certain of is that Blizzard is going to have a tough time topping World of Warcraft. The 12 million subscriber behemoth is the game to beat in the MMO market, and if Blizzard can manage another mega hit like that, they will basically be able to own a series of small countries.
