About a month ago, Telltale revealed that they were working on five new projects and we took an educated guess that one of them was a game based on The Walking Dead. Okay, so they gave a pretty obvious clue, but still, it’s nice to be proven right.

It looks like one of the new games Telltale is developing is indeed a series of games – or “Episodes”, in true Telltale fashion – based on AMC’s The Walking Dead, the TV series based on the popular Image comic by Robert Kirkman. As if that wasn’t enough, Telltale also will be developing a game based on the graphic novel Fables, written by Bill Willingham and published by Vertigo. Telltale didn’t reveal many details on the games themselves, but they previously called the projects “multi-platform”, so it’s safe to assume they’ll be released for most, if not all of the next-gen platforms. If you’re unfamiliar with Telltale Games, their recent games tend to be digital downloads released in multiple episodes at a lower price point. Sam & Max and the new Back to the Future game are perfect examples.

It’s important to note that the Walking Dead game will be based off of the television series and not the comic itself. Considering the series has only gone through one short season, it will definitely be interesting to see how this development plays out. We’ll have more news on these games soon. For now, if you haven’t yet done so, go to your local comic book store and read The Walking Dead and Fables. No, seriously. Go.
