Either John Riccitello is the mother of all trolls, or he knows something the rest of us don’t. The EA CEO recently let slip the words “Dead Space 3” while speaking at the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference.
“Right now we’ve got strong, growing franchises including Madden, FIFA… Need for Speed, Medal of Honor and Battlefield – I include them as one because we’re unlikely to ship them in any one year at the same time.
“That excludes Dead Space because I think it will probably take Dead Space 3 before we get into that five million unit cadence versus say three, four.”
Dead Space 2’s sales doubled those of the first game, rapidly reaching the 2 million unit mark within week, so it’s no surprise that EA and Visceral may already be considering a sequel. Of course, nothing’s been confirmed by developer or publisher at this early stage, despite Riccitello’s remarks.
