Diablo III and StarCraft II Expansion May Miss 2011

There may be no new Blizzard releases in 2011, according to reports from the developer-publisher’s latest financial conference call. A previously-leaked Blizzard release schedule had both Diablo III and Heart of the Swarm – the zergtastic expansion pack for StarCraft II – slated for a Q4 2011 release.

Blizzard’s current financial projections do not include any new releases in 2011, though they noted that if this were the case there would be two new games arriving in 2012 – a likely reference to Diablo III and Heart of the Swarm.

As far as Diablo III goes, Blizzard says that development is “going well”, and that release timing depends on the result of this year’s Diablo III beta.
