Sony’s second, more surprising announcement at PlayStation Meeting 2011 was the launch of a new gaming platform for Android devices called PlayStation Suite. The suite, which incorporates the same PlayStation Store found on the PS3 and PSP, will allow gamers to purchase and play PSone games on their phone, as well as new PS Suite-exclusive titles in the future.
Of course, this ties in perfectly with what we’ve heard recently about the PlayStation Phone, also known as the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. The Xperia Play will likely ship with the PlayStation Suite and offer the same experience as other similarly-capable phones, but with more accurate controls thanks to its slide-out buttons. Sony expects the PlayStation suite to be available “within the next calendar year”.
