Being a video game developer is apparently about as secure of a job as, well, pretty much any job in America. In the most recent firing news, Disney Interactive’s Junction Point studio, which produced Epic Mickey for the Wii, is going through some tough times. According to several industry sources on Twitter, there have been layoffs at the studio, which is somewhat surprising given the game’s 1.3 million copies sold during its first month in the US alone. However, we all know that sales numbers don’t determine a game’s quality, and Epic Mickey wasn’t really a smash hit with gamers. It was a decent game, but not the third party must-have for the Wii that we were all hoping for. Too bad, because in case you haven’t noticed, there’s not many of those for the Wii.
