This is something so obvious that I’m surprised it had to come straight from Iwata’s mouth to be recognized. Hollywood movie makers are very interested in the 3DS’s 3D abilities, apparently, and this makes sense considering that most homes do not have 3D televisions to take advantage of films being released to support them, but the new handheld holds some interesting potential.
“As a matter of fact, when we show Nintendo 3DS to people in Hollywood, they’re intensely interested. I think lots of people would be happy if they could watch things like 3D movie trailers on their Nintendo 3DS.”
I’m still not sold on watching films on my handhelds, but trailers and other shorter 3D entertainment would fit perfectly on the system. Interested in previewing the 3D effects used in the new Hollywood blockbuster? Just check it out on your 3DS’s browser or even download them from the 3DS’s marketplace. Heck, if this catches on I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw 3D entertainment built specifically for the 3DS. The range of 3D media the console can handle might be just what Nintendo needs to once again set it apart from its competitors, especially if the new PSP is as powerful as it’s rumored to be.
