Hot damn! MAGFest, also known as the “Music and Games Festival”, is creeping up on us pretty fast, and I’m peeing my pants in excitement. For those of you unfortunate enough to have no idea what the H I’m talking about, MAGFest is a four-day event held in Alexandria, VA from Jan 13-16, filled with games, music, booze, and Duke Nukem. As someone who’s been to practically every major gaming event in America, I can say, without hesitation, that this will be the most fun you’ve ever managed to stuff into one long weekend.
A few of the bands lined up to blow off your ears include The Minibosses, Year 200X, The Protomen, Armcannon, The Megas, Metroid Metal, Rare Candy, (my personal favorite) The OneUps, and so many more. If you’re more into the chiptune scene, dig the pixelated sound-juice of Cheap Dinosaurs, Danimal Cannon, enso, Inverse Phase, Zen Albatross, and a gaggle of other masters of the chip. I’d start listing the immense number of special guests they have, but I’m already getting winded. Give me a second to recoop.
Jump over to the pre-reg site and get your badge before they close off registration tonight. (I’ve gotten word that there will not be enough badges this year for the projected number of people, so get it fast.) Join Piki Geek for some convention shenanigans, jam out with your favorite bands, hit up the insanely huge game room, and tie up the weekend with a charity auction for Child’s Play. As Samuel L Jackson maybe once said, “MAGFest is the most badass thing you can do with your pathetic life, so be there, or I’ll spear you through a door.”
See you there.
