Well, it’s about damn time. During Microsoft’s CES keynote, Kinect support for Netflix was officially announced and will be ready for consumers in spring this year. For those times when the controller is just out of your hand’s reach or foot’s attempted monkey grasp, users will be able to motion gesture and voice command their way around the Netflix menus. Hulu Plus will also be coming to the Xbox 360 this spring, offering similar Kinect support.
In addition to this news, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer took the stage to announce Kinect’s success against the PlayStation Move in the ongoing peripheral war. Over eight million Kinect sensors have been sold, alongside a staggering 50 million Xbox 360 units. Last we heard, Sony had sold just over four million Moves.
