Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 Gets Armed with a Release Date

For all you retro sidescrolling junkies out there, Capcom is giving you a healthy dose of just what the doctor has ordered with a fancy release date for the upcoming Bionic Commando Rearmed 2. Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network will see the title emerge on February 2, for $14.99 (or 1200 MS Points), and if you haven’t heard yet, some things have changed in Nathan Spencer’s latest adventure. Despite sporting an awesome, new porn-stache and generally looking like a child molester, old Nathan has given up on only swinging his way through levels and has finally learned how to jump. Who would’ve thought it’d take the guy 24 years to assimilate a movement most usually take for granted?

For fans of the series, adding a jump ability may deal-breaker, but we here at Piki Geek say, “Hey, why the F not?” We’ve all swung through Bionic Commando more times than we count, so this new mix-up in the game formula is a welcome design choice. Nonetheless, word on the street is the game controls and looks like a gem, so I’m sure once you sit down with the title and tap that jumpity-jump button a couple times, you’ll forget all about that old school Tarzan mechanic.
