Well, well, well, look what just happened to pop up on the Internet today – a full listing of the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 achievements. It’s almost as if Christmas has come early. The extensive list of accomplishments, brought to us by the dudes over at Xbox 360 Achievements, confirms what many of us already knew, but also hints at some new features to be included.
First and foremost are the nods to Internet speculation regarding the remaining, unannounced characters. For starters, the achievement titled “Fate of the Satsui no Hadou” points to the possible inclusion of Akuma or Ken from the Street Fighter series. If we had it our way, we’d get both, but we’re just lowly video game journalists so our wishes count for little to nothing.
Secondly, the “Darkstalkers” achievement is said be attained if players make a “team composed of those who dwell in the darkness.” What could this mean exactly? Well, thus far we’ve had two Darkstalkers characters confirmed – Felicia and Morrigan. However, with rumors about Hsien-Ko making the final cut, and seeing as to make a team in MvC games one must use three characters, it may not be too crazy to postulate that the inclusion of Hsien could be more fact than fiction at this point. Then again, the Marvel character Dormammu could round out the team of darkness seeing as he originates from the “Dark Dimension.” Who knows.
Lastly, certain modes and features have been established such as a level-based ranking system outed by the “Combat Specialist” achievement, an eight player lobby for multiplayer games evidenced by the “Who Will Answer the Call?” achievement, as well as a mission mode revealed by the “Passed the Field Test,” “A New Avenger”, and “Welcome to Avengers Academy” achievements. Exciting stuff, right?
Though the achievements may not say exactly what’s in store for us when we pick up the game on February 15th, we really don’t have much longer to wait to see everything for ourselves. In the meantime, some of these achievements have left us with more questions than answers, so I guess it’s back to gossip and wild conjecture as to what all will be included in the final product.
