The Witcher 2: Assassination of Kings looks incredible, especially for anyone who loves the high fantasy genre of RPGs. That being said, it was just announced today that Assassination of Kings will include a “permanent” death feature as a part of its “Insane” difficulty mode. Taking a cue from their love for Demon’s Souls’ and its unforgiving ways, the team at CD Projekt stated that players will be able to save their progress and game throughout this absurdly difficult Insane mode, however, if they die than it’s game over – there’s no reloading from that save point, nothing. You’re done and it’s time to go back to the beginning. Wow. That’s, as the name implies, insane.
Mateusz Kanik, gameplay designer for The Wticher 2, stated that there will definitely be an achievement for beating the game on Insane, however, one has to wonder if that’s enough. Though the gift of an absurd amount of Gamer Points would probably suffice for accomplishing such an outrageously arduous task, having my name on a plaque in a museum somewhere would ultimately be the best and most appropriate reward. Sooo, how about we get to that plaque business.
