While we all know that when Blizzard announces something there’s no telling when it will actually come out, we now have official word that the Irvine, California based behemoth is currently in the process of making their second MMO: Titan. Frank Pearce, Senior VP for WoW, recently told Desctructoid that “the media is not meant to know anything about [Titan]. It’s our next gen MMO and we’ve only started talking about it in a limited fashion because we want to leverage the fact that we’re working on something like that for the purpose of recruiting – getting some of the best talent in the industry on that”. So in other words, Blizzard’s not going to tell us anything about the game, or even if Titan is just a code name for their next MMO. It does seem like we can conclude that we won’t be seeing Titan released anytime soon.
While some might call Titan the successor to WoW, according to Blizzard’s President Mike Morhaime Titan might simply add to Blizzard’s dominance in the MMO market. Morhaime stated that he thinks “that World of Warcraft can continue co-existing with our new MMO and some people might prefer the new one, some people might still prefer to play World of Warcraft”. And then there’s the always delicious chance that people could prefer to play both, and give Blizzard even more money per month. Either way, for the next few years we can all look forward to a very slow revelation of Titan.
