A port of a port that was a remake of a remake of a Super Nintendo RPG is coming to the PSP. Confused yet? I know I am. Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, a sequel to the famed Final Fantasy IV, was first released on mobile phones in Japan and then later on Wii here in the states and is now headed to Sony’s handheld sometime next year. While this announcement only applies to Japan, it would be unwise to think that the game will not make its way stateside at some point.
The aptly titled Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection features upgraded 2D graphics and a new story that bridges the gap between the original game and its sequel. So, if you haven’t already gotten your fill of Final Fantasy IV, or never got the chance to play After Years in the first place, then The Complete Collection seems like a logical purchase if you own a PSP. That being said, keep an ear to the ground as news about an inevitable stateside release traverses the gaming pipeline.
