Although they’re not the front-runner in the Piki Geek office poll for who will add Harmonix to their digital stable, CEO John Riccitiello is taking EA out of the running. In his professional opinion, “…more people have been cut trying to catch falling knives than have benefited from getting the timing exactly right.” Ouch.
Riccitiello went on to state his company is in a somewhat precarious position, and wants to avoid, “moves that look like I’m doubling down on yesterday…” EA has posted frequent quarterly losses for the past two years, but still remains one of the largest and most important game producers throughout the world.
He finished by saying he would rather buy firms that add technology, capability and intellectual property. Which, when you think about it, is pretty much exactly what Harmonix does…
