Best Black Friday Deals, 2010 Edition

03

You are here.

With Thanksgiving fast approaching, we know you hardcore gamers are looking to get some hardcore deals. (And maybe hardcore trampled.) So, we’ve compiled a list of some of the best deals you’ll be seeing this Black Friday.

Amazon’s Deals

For $10, you can pick up both Infamous and Killzone for the PS3.

Wii owners can pick up NBA Jam for $27.

For $30, there’s Red Dead Redemption and Medal of Honor for both the PS3 and 360, Just Dance 2 for the Wii and Madden ‘11 for all three major consoles.

Most of the deals fall on the $35 price point, including NHL ‘11, EA Sports MMA, FIFA Soccer ‘11, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, The Sims 3 and Fallout: New Vegas for both the PS3 and 360. For the 360, there’s also Fable 3 and Halo Reach. Wii owners are left with only Super Mario Galaxy 2, but that’s still a good deal at $35.

God of War 3 for the PS3 is $40, whereas the new Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood is $50 (both PS3 and 360, but K-Mart has it cheaper).

The console deals are $200 for a 4GB Xbox 360, which includes a $60 Amazon gift card, and $300 for a 160GB PS3 bundled with Uncharted 2 (Game of the Year Edition), Pixel Junk Shooter and The Karate Kid on Blu-ray.

Best Buy’s Deals

For $10, they’ve got some gems, specifically Cooking Mama 2 for the DS, Fallout 3 for both the PS3 and 360, Metal Gear Solid 4 for the PS3, Tekken 6 for the 360 and the World of Warcraft Battle Chest for the PC.

For $17, you might want to pick up Infamous for the PS3, Splinter Cell: Conviction for the 360 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 or Tetris Party Deluxe for the Wii. For both the PS3 and 360, there’s MLB 2K10 and Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. Also, for all three consoles, there’s Beatles: Rock Band, but it’s obviously just the disc.

For $30, there’s Modern Warfare 2 for PS3 and WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2011 for the 360. For both the PS3 and 360, you’ve got the options of Bad Company 2 or Mafia 2.

For $35, which seems like the major price point this year, we’ve got, for both the PS3 and 360, Def Jam Rapstar, FIFA Soccer ‘11, James Bond 007: Blood Stone, Madden ‘11, Medal of Honor, NCAA Football ‘11, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, NHL ‘11 and The Sims 3.

For $40, you can pick up New Vegas for the PS3, 360 or the PC. There’s also Fable 3 and Halo Reach, but keep in mind that all three games are $5 cheaper at Amazon. Lastly, for the lonely Wii owner, there’s NHL Slapshot, which is not a terrible deal.

Best Buy has console deals for each of the major three, including the DSi holiday bundle. The DSi bundle, which includes Mario Party, will run you $150. For $170, you can get a Wii in either white or black, bundled with Wii Sports Resort (and obviously, the original Wii Sports). For $200, it’s a 4GB Xbox 360 including three LEGO games (Batman, the original Indiana Jones, Star Wars: Complete Saga), which is a decent family deal. Lastly, there’s the 160GB PS3 for $300, which comes with the Little Big Planet Game of the Year Edition, Mod Nation Racers and Cars on Blu-Ray. (The Amazon bundle seems better, but that’s debatable.)

Gamestop’s Deals

The big news here is that Gamestop is again running the buy two, get one free promo for all used games and accessories. That deal, including most of the ones listed below, run all weekend, so plan accordingly.

Starting at $10, you can find yourself the World of Warcraft Battle Chest for the PC.

For $15, they’re offering Guitar Hero: Smash Hits for each of the consoles or Guitar Hero: World Tour for the PS3 and 360. For the PS3, selections include Infamous, Killzone 2, Ratchet & Clank Future, The Beatles: Rock Band and the first Uncharted. 360 owners have the option of picking up Call of Duty 4, which is a fair deal.

For $20, we see our first major PC deals: LEGO Universe and The Sims 3. Hunters can check out Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2010 (with Top Shot) for the Wii. 360 owners, again, get stuck with an average deal, Splinter Cell: Conviction (which was cheaper at Best Buy). Also, if you can manage to get in before noon, Final Fantasy XIII and UFC Undisputed 2010 for both the PS3 and 360 are both only twenty dollars.

For $30, there’s Fallout: New Vegas and The Sims 3: Late Night for the PC. Xbox 360 owners can pick from either LEGO Harry Potter, Sniper or Super Street Fighter IV. Nothing here for the PS3 owners…

However, for $40, you can pick up the Bad Company 2: Ultimate Edition and F1 2010 for the PS3. Like at Best Buy, console owners will be able to pick up New Vegas or Fable 3 and Halo Reach for the 360, but again, Amazon has it for $5 cheaper.

Also, for $40, you can pick up both Scribblenauts and Super Scribblenauts together and save yourself twenty bucks. It’s a great deal for any DS owners who don’t have both already.

Console bundles include a black Wii with Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort and Just Dance for only $200, a 4GB Xbox 360 with either Madden ‘11 or Medal of Honor for $200 and a 160GB PS3 with the God of War Collection and God of War 3 for $300.  However, unlike other retailers, the console deals are only good until noon (if they last that long).

Lastly, there’s also the matter of the DSi holiday bundle, which comes with Mario Party and either Fossil Fighters or The Legendary Starfy. You can pick that up for $150, Friday through Sunday.

K-Mart’s Deals

In a weird turn of events, K-Mart is actually having a lot of deals on Thanksgiving day. So, let’s start with those first:

For $10, you can pick up the World of Warcraft Battle Chest and get a $5 gaming coupon in return. For the PS3, you can pick up Rock Band 2, but alas, no coupon.

For $13, you get the lucky deal of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions for the DS.

For $15, there’s Resident Evil 4 for the Wii or Beatles: Rock Band for all three consoles.

For $30, Wii owners can find NBA 2k11, NBA Jam, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions or the Sims 3.

For $35, it’s either the PS3 or 360 versions of the Dragon Age: Ultimate Edition, Mafia 2 or Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. (Gamestop is offering DA: Ultimate for $50, so find a K-Mart a day earlier instead.) Medal of Honor is also in this category, but it includes a $10 gaming coupon with purchase.

For $40, you can choose from Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood or NHL ‘11 for either the PS3 or 360. Wii owners have the option of NHL Slapshot, again. However, if you’re looking for more $10 gaming coupons, you’ve got the choices of either Fable 3 or Halo Reach for the 360 or Madden ‘11 for both the PS3 and 360.

For $45, PS3 owners can pick up the Modern Warfare Saga Pack, which includes both Call of Duty games.

Other deals include the Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock guitar bundle for $70, a PSP Go for $150 or the Kinect sensor (with $15 gaming coupon) for $150. The console deals offered on Thanksgiving are the 4GB Kinect 360 for $300 and a Nintendo Wii for $200, both including a $25 gaming coupon.

On Friday, it’s a mix of repeats from the previous list and some new gems.

For example, you can pick up a copy of Mass Effect 2 (360) for only $10 and for some reason, save $10 on a 1600 MS point card. Also for $10, the World of Warcraft Battle Chest makes a return, yet again.

For $15, you can pick up a copy of Batman: Arkham Asylum or Call of Duty: World At War for the PS3 or 360. As per usual, Beatles: Rock Band is around for each of the consoles. Those with a Wii can get themselves a copy of either Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune.

For $30, it’s just Wii games: My Sims Sky Heroes or NBA Jam.

For $35, it’s either the PS3 or 360 versions of the Dragon Age: Ultimate Edition, Mafia 2 or Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. (I feel like I just typed that.) Medal of Honor is also back with another $10 gaming coupon.

For $40, you’ve got NHL Slapshot or Goldeneye for the Wii or The Sims 3 for the PS3 or 360. Madden ‘11, Fable 3 and Halo Reach will net you a $10 gaming coupon, as well.

Again, on Friday, PS3 owners can pick up the Modern Warfare Saga Pack, which includes both Call of Duty games, for $45.

Console bundles are also a great way to get your hands on those vaunted coupons. K-Mart has the DSi holiday bundle with Mario Party for $150 with a $25 coupon, any Wii for $150 with a $25 coupon and a 160GB PS3 with Uncharted 2, The Karate Kid on Blu-Ray and a PSN voucher for Shooter with a $25 coupon for $300.

Those wanting an Xbox 360 can find the 4GB console bundled with Black Ops for $200, but sadly, no coupon.

Target’s Deals

If you can manage to drag yourself out of bed, Target is offering a $10 gift card with any $100 purchase from 4 to 10 AM. Good luck with that.

For $17, you can grab Final Fantasy XIII for the PS3 or 360.

For $27, Wii owners can grab Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex, LEGO Harry Potter, NBA Jam or New Carnival Games.

For $35, there’s the usual Medal of Honor, Fable 3, Halo Reach and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. The stand-out deal here is for the Wii: Super Mario Galaxy 2.

For $40, pick up Just Dance 2 and get a $10 gift card with purchase.

For $50, get either Dance Central for the 360 or Super Mario Bros. Wii and kindly accept that $10 gift card.

There’s also some controller deals: a black 360 controller, a Dual Shock 3 for the PS3 or a Wiimote Plus with some sort of Fling Smash game, each for $39.

The bundles include a 160GB PS3 with Force Unleashed 2 and The Prince of Persia on Blu-Ray for $300, which is pretty weak, and a 4GB 360 for $200, which comes with a $50 gift card. (Which isn’t bad, seeing as how you can also grab that $10 gift card before 10 AM.)

Also, if you’re looking to pick up a PSP 3000, there’s a holiday bundle with Little Big Planet, The Karate Kid on UMD and a 1GB memory stick for $127.

Toys R Us’ Deals

Most of these deals cover sales from 10 PM Thursday night until Friday afternoon at 1PM. Luckily, there’s not a lot of great deals here, so you can hop over at night and check out another store in the morning.

The big deal is a buy one, get one for $5 sale covering: Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts 2011 and Goldeneye for the Wii, Fable 3 and Halo Reach for the 360 and Madden ‘11, Medal of Honor, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and The Sims 3 for both the PS3 and the 360.

For $10, you can pick up SimCity or Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions for the DS.

There’s also a Dual Shock 3 on sale for $33, a black Xbox 360 controller for $30 and a wireless headset for the 360 for $25.

Topping off the list is a 4GB 360 for $200 and a 250GB 360 for $300, but both include a $50 gift card.

Wal-Mart’s Deals

For $10, you can pick up Call of Duty 4, the God of War collection, Infamous, Killzone 2, or Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction for the PS3; Force Unleashed, GRAW2, Prototype, Tetris Evolution or Transformers for the 360 and Red Steel 2 or Wheel of Fortune for the Wii.

For $30, there’s a few for Wii owners: MLB 2K10, NBA Jam, Toy Story 3 and Transformers: Cybertron Adventures. Otherwise, it’s Modern Warfare 2 and NBA 2K11 for the 360, WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2011 for the PS3 and Medal of Honor and Red Dead Redemption for both consoles. For all of the consoles, there’s also Madden ‘11.

For $35, you can pick up Halo Reach and that’s the last time we’re going to talk about that.

There’s also a Band Hero bundle for $75, which is good for the kids.

Doorbusters on Friday morning are your standard console bundles with some not-so-standard bundle items: a DS lite for $89, a limited edition red Wii with an extra black remote, Wii Sports, Super Mario Bros. Wii and Epic Mickey for $250, a 160GB PS3 with Uncharted 2 and Medal of Honor for $300 and a 4GB 360 with Modern Warfare 2 and Mass Effect 2 for $200.

If you want to get there at 12:01 AM on Friday, you can pick up the white, red and black Wii console bundles for $200, including a $50 gift card.

While this is a long list, it’s nowhere near all of the deals offered by retailers near you. For more information, check out the awesome Black Friday thread on CAG. Also, if you have any other tips, please leave them in the comments.
