I’ll admit it: I love tower defense games. I love the strategy in placing my units, the feeling of glee as my soldiers destroy the incoming army one by one, and even the frustration I get when one unit slips through my perfectly crafted defenses, ruining the entire game. So, if you’re all about what I just described, then today is a good day. Abylight and Kawamoto Industrial just announced the release of their next project, Dirojo! Samurai Defenders, a DSiWare tower defense game set in the Edo period of Japan. Dairojo! lets players feel like they’re immersed in the 17th century, as evidenced by the anime art style (they had that back then, didn’t they?).
With four different modes, six different castles to defend and several levels of difficulty, Dirojo! Samurai Defenders promises to provide plenty of gameplay for tower defense veterans and newbies alike. Like most tower defense games, you’ll need to strategically position your troops to defend your castle, using units ranging from spearman and archers to generals and cannons. Best of all, you’ll be able to invade your friends’ castles with DS Download Play. Start preparing your defenses now because the war for the Land of the Rising Sun starts this winter.

That video was very cool!
