Metal Gear Arcade Final Location Tests Happening, Looks Surprisingly Snazzy
Indeed, what you’re seeing is real. That’s Metal Gear Solid, in arcade form. Konami has released the first real details and screenshots of the upcoming Arcade-exclusive, Metal Gear Arcade. Announced back in February at the Arcade Operators Union Entertainment Expo, Metal Gear Arcade is a cabinet version of Metal Gear Online that merges stereoscopic 3D with head-tracking technologies for motion control and a mandatory plastic arcade gun for shooting fools.
It has just been announced that the game is in its final location test phase and can be checked out and demoed anytime between November 19th and 21st. The catch is you have to either live or have means of transportation to Leisure Land. Which is in Akihabara. Which is in Tokyo. Which is in Japan. Collective cries can begin right about…now.
The game features a Mission Mode which allows players to cooperatively take on various mission-types such as Sneaking and Defense. There’s rumored to be five types in all, but let’s be honest, that’s not what you’re worried about right now. The only thing going through your mind, or should be at least, is the very idea of playing this game with your buddies while wearing a crazy, motion-sensing contraption on your dome piece all the while blasting the hell out of things with the unnecessarily large arcade guns we all became accustomed to in the 90s.
There are said to be a number of elements making a return from MGS serious, one of which being the familiar CQC, or close quarters combat, mechanics. Customization is also rumored to be a big component of the game, but Kojima Productions have been pretty quiet in regards to the exact details.
