Fire: Black Arms, an FPS on-rails shooter set in a South American Jungle, is the sequel to the Heavy Fire: Special Ops WiiWare title. With all the possibilities that the Wii controls provide, FPS games have been few and far between on the console, and especially as downloadable titles. Black Arms hopes to build on the success of its predecessor and fill its niche as a serious (though short) shooter on a console that has often been labeled as being for casual gamers only.
As a railed FPS game, Black Arms will try and take advantage of the classic light-gun style of play, as players to take advantage of the Wii Zapper if they want the full shooter experience. Perhaps best of all is the inclusion of a two player co-op mode. With only six missions, the game may be a little on the short side, but remember that it’s a WiiWare title. The game’s also looking to enhance replayability through both a point and medal system, so all of you perfectionists out there can prepare to play this over and over trying to get the medal for not getting hit a single time during the entire game.
Heavy Fire: Black Arms is being produced by Teyon, who have not only produced the Heavy Fires series on WiiWare but also games such as Robot Rescue and Ball Fighter for DSiWare. If you’re interested in learning more, check out the official game website here.
